Dr. Munro-Wilson is a plastic surgeon specialized in aesthetic surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss. He is the director of Perfecta Plastic Surgery in Monterrey Mexico. Dr. Munro-Wilson earned his medical degree from the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico where he graduated with one of the top scores in his class and. He then dedicated a year to researching metabolism and nutritional management of stroke patients in the Department of Neurology at the University of Nuevo Leon Hospital. Dr. Munro-Wilson went on to complete eight years of postgraduate surgical training, first in general surgery at the Christus Muguerza Hospital in Monterrey and then in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Nuevo Leon Hospital, followed by a specialization in aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He continued his training with a surgical fellowship in body contouring after massive weight loss with world-renowned experts in that field, Dr. Al Aly and Dr. Albert E. Cram, in Iowa City in 2007. Dr. Munro-Wilson is certified by the Mexican Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He is also a frequent participant in international meetings lecturing on topics related to aesthetic and body contouring surgery. In his 11 years in private practice, Dr. Munro-Wilson has performed thousands of operations on men and women who have lost weight after bariatric surgery. Patients from across Mexico, the United States and Canada, travel to his center in Monterrey to undergo plastic surgery procedures, in addition to patients from South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He is regarded as an expert in circumferential and fleur de lis lipectomy, in addition to inner thigh lift and upper body lift. Over the last decade, Dr. Munro-Wilson developed an innovative technique of buttock lift and augmentation using the patient’s own tissues, thus avoiding the use of implants. Dr. Munro-Wilson is married and has two children. His wife Erika is a board certified anesthesiologist and a key member of the Perfecta team. Dr. Munro-Wilson is passionate about wildlife conservation, utilizing his skills in reconstructive surgery to collaborate with Mexican wildlife authorities in the treatment and rehabilitation of injured birds of prey with the ultimate goal of returning them to the wild. He has contributed to several publications dealing with raptor rehabilitation and conservation.
